Disappointment: When Life Gives You Lemons

DAY 8 OF 8

Have Christians disappointed you?

"Déborah, Christians have disappointed me so much..."

A lady told me this with tears in her eyes after one of my performances. Yes, she had been treated very unkindly, and I could empathize with her pain. And honestly, I often hear about such negative experiences with fellow Christians also.

Most likely, you might be thinking right now, "Oh, Déborah, I could tell you a thing or two as well... Christians disappoint me over and over." And do you know who else could say that?

God.

Don't you think He notices when we disappoint Him?Or, to get more personal, when I disappoint Him?

But God constantly chooses to forgive us when we fail Him.

"The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." (Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV)

We should be very thankful for that, right?

Christians will disappoint you again and again, just as you also disappoint others.

"...let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!” (John 8:7 NLT) You must surely know this story from the Gospel of John. The Pharisees and scribes, the religious leaders, wanted to stone a woman who had committed adultery. But even to her, Jesus showed His forgiveness and goodness!

Don't you think Jesus would also respond to that Christian who hurt you with the same offer of forgiveness? Don't you think you would also wish for this forgiveness from Jesus when you disappoint others?

When we live with kindness, ready to forgive, both we and our faith will thrive!

You are a miracle!

Déborah
