Patience

DAY 3 OF 7

Waiting patiently

There are many parts of the Bible where God’s advice is effectively ‘be patient.' Numerous times God’s people were told to stand still and wait for Him to act on their behalf. This isn’t just about physical stillness; it’s a spiritual rest from confusion, worry, and futile efforts. It’s about not letting your emotions run wild and about trusting God with all your heart, emotions, and your life. Patience is a recurring theme in the New Testament, reflecting God’s character and a necessary trait His people must cultivate (James 1:3–4; Hebrews 12:1; I Timothy 6:11).

In various circumstances, God places us in situations that demand patience, teaching us endurance and fortitude. However, patience does not equate to passivity; it requires an active expectation of results rooted in unwavering trust in God. Surrendering our concerns to Him, seeking His guidance, and preparing for whatever lies ahead are crucial aspects of this journey, regardless of its duration. In the journey of patience and trust, we don’t merely endure but we experience transformation. Personally, I’ve encountered numerous instances of prolonged waiting in every aspect of my life, from marriage to parenthood. Yet, even as I wait for longstanding promises, I’ve learned that God’s timing is perfect, His plans are purposeful, and His faithfulness is unwavering.

Let us embrace each waiting moment as an opportunity to deepen our faith, fortify our character, and draw closer to the One who holds our future in His hands.
