7 Powerful Names of God

DAY 6 OF 7

Jehovah Jireh (God Our Provider)

Hello dear friend. Let’s pray together.

“Jesus, You know every need that we have today. I pray that You would provide in miraculous ways so there is no doubt that the provision came from You! We trust You with every need because You are Jehovah Jireh, God our Provider.”

I can’t imagine what Abraham must have been thinking as he walked up the mountain with his son, Isaac, knowing that God had asked him to sacrifice and surrender the son he loved so much. Before you judge God for making this request, I want to remind you that when it came down to a choice between sparing the life of His Son or sparing yours, God chose you!

I don’t know what Abraham was thinking, but I do know the promise He was clinging to...God always provides. Listen to this confidence in answer to his son’s question:

“Abraham said, ‘God will provide for Himself the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.’ So the two of them walked on together...Then Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. Abraham called the name of that place The LORD Will Provide, as it is called to this day, ‘In the mount of the LORD it will be provided.’” (Genesis 22:8,13-14, NIV)

God provided! Listen to this testimony about a group of people who wandered away from God of their own will:

“For the LORD your God has blessed you in all that you have done; He has known your wanderings through this great wilderness these forty years the LORD your God has been with you; you have not lacked a thing.” (Deuteronomy 2:7, NIV)

God provided! And listen to this promise:

“And it shall be that if you earnestly obey My commandments which I command you today, to love the Lord your God and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul, then I will give you the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the latter rain, that you may gather in your grain, your new wine, and your oil. And I will send grass in your fields for your livestock, that you may eat and be filled.” (Deuteronomy 11:12-15, NIV)

When I was in college, I went to work at a ministry in which I had to raise my own support and finances. This was a huge step of faith for me because I often struggle with the belief that God will provide. At the end of the summer, I was amazed to see this truth come to reality. God provided! In fact, He provided more than what I needed to return to school that fall.

My friend, I don’t know what you need today (and yes, “wants” and “needs” are different), but I do know that God has given Himself a name that should encourage you to live out this promise, “And my God shall supply ALL your needs according to His glorious riches that are in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 NKJV)

Whatever you need, ASK!

Believe that He will provide today. He is Jehovah Jireh, God, our provider.

You are a miracle!
