The Jesus Mark Wants You to Know - 28 Days to Become More Intimate With JesusSýnishorn
Day 3 - Mark 1:9-15
Declaration, Empowerment and Commissioned For The Work
Jesus made a public declaration of His commitment and calling when He was baptized.
Maybe like me, you were baptized as an infant. But later as an adult, after I repented, believed the gospel, and received the Holy Spirit, I wanted to be baptized. It was important to make that public declaration of my commitment as a follower of Jesus. I remember saying to the on-lookers after emerging from the water, “That was the best burial (of self and the old way of life), and resurrection (to a new life in Christ) that I could ever hope for!”
After Jesus’ baptism, He was compelled by the Spirit to spend 40 days in the wilderness. And though tempted, He spent time focused on the presence and power of His Father and the mission He was given.
Without time spent in a similar manner, how will you become more intimate with your Heavenly Father and more committed with confidence to the calling He’s placed on your life?
Jesus came out of that desert experience like a roaring lion ready to devour the works of the enemy. He preached, healed the sick, cast out demons and performed miracles as witness to the supernatural power entrusted to Him … and to His followers.
When you know that you know, Jesus Christ is Lord and that you are empowered with His Spirit to act on His behalf with His authority, it will change your world.
You will want to make a public declaration of your undying commitment to Jesus. You will intentionally want to spend time in His presence being empowered in worship. And you will want to spread the word of His gospel, share His love, perform His works and deliver the captives, all for His glory!
Are you in that place in your life today? If not, what will you do to get there?
