How to Read God's WordSýnishorn
DAY 5: Praying the Word
I invite you, as you come to this point, to say "I will now pray the Word of God".
Remember what God told Joshua in Joshua 1.8 about the Word! You can start praying, "Lord, I acknowledge that you are the Son of David, I acknowledge that you are the Messiah, I pray with faith and I know that you hear me, that you stop and listen to me, just as you stopped to listen to Bartimaeus."
Praying God's Word will really help you to anchor God's Word deep within yourself and make it possible for God's Word to live within you.
You can continue: "Lord, just as Bartimaeus didn't let the crowd around him crush him and silence his voice, I'm not going to let circumstances crush my prayer! I won't let the people around me crush my voice! Lord I want to cry out even louder: you are my Lord, you are my Savior and I know you will stop to hear my prayer and answer it."
At one point, Bartimaeus picked up the coat and threw it away.
I can say now that it's over, because that coat was also a means for him to beg.
You can pray: "Lord, Bartimaeus has thrown off his cloak and finally come before You. Are there things in my life that I need to get rid of in order to come closer to you? Are there things you wish me to get rid of?"
Then stand in a moment of silence before God, waiting for God to speak to you.
This moment isn't just a time to study the Word. It's also a time to pray the Word of God, but also to be silent in order to hear God...
Then say: "Lord, you know my needs, I have faith in you and, just as Bartimaeus brought you an obvious need - he was blind, everyone knew it - Lord, I need physical healing, I need emotional healing. Lord I need you to act in my family, I need you to act in my marriage, I need you to act in my finances..."
Here, we haven't read a great passage, we've read less than 10 verses! We stayed with a story, but went further. By doing so, God's Word will speak much more to our hearts...
Take time in God's Word.
You too can apply these five points. It's like a guide I'm giving you. I've been applying it for years in my own life.
It will help you study the Word, pray the Word and make God's Word speak to you and transform you.
Let's pray together:
Lord Jesus, Your Word is powerful, and I want to declare it, I want to pray it in my circumstances. I believe Your Word transforms me, sets me free and strengthens my faith! Thank you for your Word! Thank you for your Word! Amen!
Do you want to go further in the life of the Spirit? I am so convinced that my book Parables of the Night will help you understand God's language in your dreams, discern God's intentions, and interpret them, that I am offering you the first 3 chapters of the book! About this Plan
When we read the Bible, how do we understand the text, how do we extract biblical principles from it, how do we pray from what we've just read? If you don't know how to study God's Word and want to grow in your understanding of what the Bible says, then this reading plan is for you.
