Love Has A Name Devotional By Jesus Culture

DAY 7 OF 10

Sound of Adoration – Bryan Torwalt

Psalms 100

“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the Earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God! It is He who made us, and we are His, we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name!”

I love how this Psalm so clearly depicts “thankfulness” as the starting point of worship. How we enter into His gates, to be with God, through thankfulness. There is truly nothing else that will begin to shift your perspective and align your heart and head with God, than thankfulness. You could be in church, at work, driving in your car, or my personal favorite, going for a walk, and the simple action of turning your affection and attention towards God with an attitude of thankfulness changes everything. Sometimes we have to start simple with family, or provision, or even just that He got us through another day. Or maybe life isn’t the easiest at the moment, so we just start with the cross, with Jesus’s resurrection, for salvation, and then let God begin to speak to your spirit and unveil everything He’s doing in your life. How He’s working in the midst of the chaos of our lives to turn everything to good. Those are the moments when I find myself moving from a place of thankfulness into a place of deep love, respect, awe, wonder and adoration for God.

Like I said, one of my favorite things to do is to stick on some headphones with some instrumental or worship music, and take a long walk with the sole intent of worshipping God and listening to His voice. I can remember many times finding myself on some bench looking out over a city or park or just some view, and the presence of God suddenly coming on so strong as I sit, silent in utter amazement of who He is, and everything He’s doing in my life. I always feel like those moments of deep love, and intimacy with God are the fruit of thankfulness. So as you read through this simple Psalm, let it lead you to a place of thankfulness, and I pray that God would invade your space with His goodness, His kindness, and His love.
