Becoming The Brother Everyone Needs

DAY 7 OF 7

A Brother Who Cares

Most of the time, love, spiritual encouragement, and support between brothers and sisters in Christ manifests itself in the form of literal or figurative pats on the back, but sometimes, circumstances call for a different expression of care and concern, not only for the sake of the person receiving it, but also for health of the Body as a whole

Everyone makes mistakes, even children of God. Because our transformation into the image of Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit takes a lifetime to complete, each of us will, from time to time, find ourselves in need of correction, conviction, and forgiveness. Although the Holy Spirit is the only One able to convict, or convince, our hearts of sin, God sometimes uses our brothers and sisters to call our attention to sin in our lives that we may not see if we are not in tune with the Holy Spirit at the time. Furthermore, although sin is transgression against God alone, our disobedience often causes others grief, making it necessary for us to seek the forgiveness of others as well as God’s forgiveness

Any way you slice it, sin is uncomfortable for everyone it touches. Whether you are the one calling someone else’s attention to the sin in their lives or the one receiving the correction, be careful that you conduct yourself in a loving manner out of reverence for Christ in that interaction, no matter the attitude and/or intentions of the brother or sister in Christ with whom you are dealing. Remember, your first priority is God’s glory, which is served only when you extend mercy and grace to the other members of God’s family.

Read 2 Timothy 4:1-5, Proverbs 27:17, and Proverbs 12:1.

About this Plan

Becoming The Brother Everyone Needs

When you put your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation from the consequences of sin, God becomes your Heavenly Father.  As if that weren’t enough, He throws in brothers and sisters to boot, a ready-made family with eternal ties.  However, membership in God’s family is a privilege that comes with responsibility.
