Whispers From the Olive Tree

DAY 7 OF 7

WE HAVE PEACE

"When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth.” Genesis 8:11 NIV

Humanity’s wickedness angered the Lord God. He commanded Noah to construct an ark and to gather his family along with pairs of select animals in preparation for a flood that eradicated all life. After the flood, Noah released a raven and later a dove to seek land; the raven found no land, but the dove returned with an olive branch in its beak to signify there was land.

The olive branch carried by the dove symbolized peace and the end of the devastating flood. It meant hope, restoration, humanity’s fresh start, and a new beginning of man’s relationship with the Almighty God.

God’s peace (shalom) entails more than tranquility or freedom from conflict; it also means completeness, soundness, health, prosperity, and safety.

Seniors have weathered life’s storms, which have deepened our trust in God because we have experienced His Faithfulness. Our inner peace and solace result from learning to depend on God.

AFFIRMATION: I affirm my deep trust in God, cultivated through the storms I've weathered in life. As a senior, I embrace the faithfulness of God, that has been my anchor. Through life's challenges, I have learned to depend on God, finding inner peace and solace. My trust in Him is unwavering, and I carry the wisdom gained through these experiences, confident that God's faithfulness sustains me through every season of life.
