God's Redemption Story (1 Kings - Ezra)Sýnishorn
Ezra - 4/5
When King Artaxerxes issued a decree for Ezra and the Israelites to take gold and silver to the temple of God in Jerusalem, Ezra responded with thanks. But he didn’t thank Artaxerxes for being a great king. He didn’t pat himself on the back for being a great prophet of God. Ezra knew immediately that such a giant blessing could only have come from God. And that’s who he offered his praise and gratitude to.
We may have success in our own lives—a promotion at work, a happy family, a fat bank account—but none of that is because we are such great people. We are still dirty sinners in desperate need of the mercy and forgiveness of a holy God. Whatever blessings you have in your life today, large or small, stop now and thank Jesus for paying your price on the cross and making life with your Savior possible.
