Christ for Everyone - a Three-Day Reading Plan by Chris EkissSýnishorn
Day 1 - Christ For Everyone
John 3:16 - I’m sure you’ve read this verse a thousand times, as have I, but as a worship leader, I love to reflect on this verse as a true remembrance of what God has given me through His Love. You’ve probably seen it on football helmets, social media posts, and t-shirts galore.
Even though it is familiar, let's read it again. God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, gave the world His Son. And not just His Son - His ONE and ONLY Son. His Son, who lived a perfect human life, was given to this imperfect and messed up world. Our Savior, Jesus Christ, left the Throne Room to heal the sick, give sight to the blind, and raise people from the dead. Yet, He was still mocked, beaten, abandoned, and crucified on a Cross. He was then placed in a borrowed grave where, three days later, He rose in victory. This defeat of death, sin, and the grave was not just for the people of that time, but for everyone, forever.
Paul says in 2 Corinthians 5:14 that “He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.”
He died for everyone. Every single one of us.
His Love, Grace, and Mercy are for everyone - for the broken-hearted. The lonely. The uncertain. He’s for the victim and the guilty. The ones at the end of their rope. The forgotten. The lost. The unseen. He is for your children, your parents, and all those who came before and will come after. He’s for those on the right and left. He is for those living their last days this side of Heaven, and the ones breathing life Earthside for the first time. He’s for the ones in the next church over, as well as the ones in your own, and for the ones who are afraid to walk through the church doors.
He died for everyone so that those who would hear and believe would receive His New Life and live for Him. How can we take that Truth into our day? Today, we get to choose Him, and let Him set us free. We get to walk into Everlasting Light with Him today and carry that Truth to EVERYONE.
Father God, cover us with Your Spirit today. Open our eyes to see that You are for us, that You are with us, and that You have always been near to us. You are for everyone, and I pray You will show me ways to share that with others today. Amen!
Reflection:
Listen to the song “Christ For Everyone” and reflect on these questions:
Who are the people that come to mind that maybe don’t know the Love of Jesus?
What about those in your community who have never heard the beautiful Love Story of the Bible, let alone the miraculous stories of Jesus? These people may not pop into your head immediately, but I suspect that you have an idea of someone at this moment. I want to challenge you.
Find a way to show the Love of Jesus to that person - through prayer or loving action today.
