How to Exercise a Humble Faith

DAY 2 OF 4

Becoming Truth

Newton’s third law is a scientific discovery in the sphere of physics. This law says that for every action in nature, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Applying this law is how we have evidence that the wind exists. Though we cannot see it, we can see what moves in its path. Our body feels the wind when it blows over us, so we can confirm its existence.

Likewise, emotions, thoughts, and feelings produce a reaction—through which we can prove their existence and meaning.

Loving God is more than having the right answer to one specific question (such as, “Do you love God?”). Loving God is about the posture of our hearts, the course of our thinking, and the evidence of our action.

Love ought to permeate all we say and do. How we love someone determines everything about us. It defines how we will love other people. And it will help to indicate how we perceive ourselves, others, and the world around us.

The Bible tells us to love as God does, following His example by caring for others, seeing their benefit as important as ours, ensuring that what we say aligns with how we act, and more. Scripture calls us to look for and exercise wisdom and truth. It calls us to love. To action. It calls us to not view others with indifference. If we see they are needy and God has taken care of us, we can reach out to them to do the same as Jesus Christ did for us, becoming the hands and feet of Jesus.

We cannot proclaim love for God while our actions show no evidence for it. Our claim would be untrue and inaccurate.

The great news of the gospel—what sets Christianity apart from any other religion—is that God became flesh. Jesus Christ was the biggest demonstration of God’s love for us humans. The Divine Ruler of all things humbled Himself and came down to the earth to show us how to love, how to think, how to feel, and what to believe. Jesus shows us how to live and what it really means to be alive.

God, open our eyes. We want to turn to Jesus, see His example, take it to heart, and imitate it for all the world to see. We want to raise a wave of thanksgiving to You. Let everybody see how the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
