Real Hope: Faithful GodSýnishorn
God’s Faithfulness Doesn’t Falter
Have you ever made a commitment to a friend, decided to attend a party, said you were going for a walk, only to be too tired when the moment came to deliver on your commitment? Suddenly, the party feels like it’ll be a drag; the friend can be seen another day, and you’d much rather rest on the couch than go for a walk around the block.
Sure, there’s a discipline involved in honouring your ‘yeses’ and following through on your commitments, but we all know the effect tiredness can have on our best intentions.
When it comes to God, thankfully, He’s not burdened with that challenge. He doesn’t ‘become tired or grow weary,’ and His faithfulness isn’t beholden to mood or energy levels.
God’s faithfulness – His steadfast loyalty and trustworthiness – is linked entirely to His character and word.
Scripture tells us that He doesn’t change but remains faithful to His covenant (Malachi 3:6) and that He is ‘[eternally changeless, always] the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8)’.
The character of God is reliable. Infallible. If you ever question His goodness, His delivery on a promise, or wonder if He hears your prayers, then return to this truth: His character is unchanging, and He does not tire of being faithful.
