Gotta Be Da Shoes - Where Sneaker Culture Meets Faith

DAY 1 OF 5

Finding Your Perfect Fit

My love for sneakers was awakened in the fifth grade. Suddenly, I noticed what everyone was wearing on their feet and couldn’t look away; the leather, the canvas, the suede, the colorways, and of course the brands. This awakening happened because of the shoes I happened to be wearing. My friends started making fun of me because I had on Bobos. At first, I argued, “These are not Bobos… look, they don’t even have a name on them.” Then I learned the definition of Bobos; shoes with no name. I needed a pair of Nikes ASAP to save my reputation. My parents refused to buy me a pair and told me I had to figure it out myself. At ten years old I started my first business: “Tommy’s lawn service”. After a few weeks of hustling, I saved up enough money to get my first pair of real sneakers.

I remember walking into school feeling like a million bucks with my new shoes. I got compliments left and right. This felt great, but as I grew into my teenage years I struggled with materialism. I felt like my shoes, my clothes, and my jewelry validated who I was. When I was sixteen I started shoplifting from my retail job. Soon my closet was bursting at the seams with new clothes. I soon realized my material lust was a never-ending chase. The fuller my closet got, the emptier my heart was.

A few years later I found what I needed. It was so much more satisfying than another hit of retail dopamine. I didn’t have to try to squeeze my foot into it. It was the perfect fit. I knew it’s gotta be these shoes. These were the ones I was praying for. Let me make it plain: I found my purpose, the reason my feet were placed on this planet. How can you find your perfect fit? The sweet spot that feels like walking on Nike Air? I can’t give you the exact specifications. I’ve heard it said that our creator works in mysterious colorways. But, I can show you a pathway that can get you there in these next five days. It’s a process that starts with seeking the one that made you. The maker of the universe shaped us in his likeness and image and he has designed you for destiny!

Shoe Game Steps:

  1. Have you ever bought some shoes, and they didn’t give you the feeling you thought they would?
  2. How much is enough?
  3. Have you found the perfect fit for your purpose?
