Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled Living

DAY 14 OF 30

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10

Think back to when you were a child and someone took the time to teach you how to do something new. Maybe your grandmother taught you how to bake a cake, and now you have a passion for baking. Maybe a mentor taught you how to use a hammer and nail, and now you enjoy building cool things. Maybe a coach taught you how to kick a ball, and now you love the sport that once seemed so hard.

When an expert teaches you something new, you listen to their advice, even if you don’t want to admit it! They know more than you about this new thing, and you know they want you to succeed. They are passing on to you the abilities and passion needed to add value to your life and the world around you.

You may not have ever thought about this, but your Heavenly Father has entrusted you with many things to be used for His glory and for the benefit of others. That makes you a steward. A steward is someone who looks after and manages someone else’s property. Your Heavenly Father has invited you to become a steward within His household. He owns everything but has entrusted you with resources, energy, finances, talents, abilities, and spiritual gifts to use and manage for His purposes. As you use these to serve others, they will experience the grace of God in their lives. God gets the glory, you get the joy of stewarding well what He has entrusted you, and people are blessed by His grace. What a privilege it is to join your Heavenly Father in His work!

As you read from 1 Peter today, think about what God entrusted you with. Ask Him how you can use what He has entrusted you with to build His kingdom. Remember, we work because of His love, not to earn His love. As you reflect on these things today, write down what God is saying and what you plan to do about it. To learn more about your Spiritual Gifts, we encourage you to take the Spiritual Gifts class.

About this Plan

Discovery Pathway Classes - Baptism and Spirit-Filled Living

Spiritual growth does not happen by accident! Jesus made it clear that the pathway to spiritual growth comes through abiding with him. This study will help you abide with Jesus each day and grow as his disciple in four aspects of the faith: Understanding the significance of baptism. Learning to live a Holy Spirit-directed life. Experiencing the power of prayer. Hearing God's voice through his Word.
