Taste and See
Taste and see that the LORD is good; how blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! PSALM 34:8 NASB
Enjoying God doesn't come without experience. In the Psalms, we are reminded to "taste and see" God; we need to give Him a try! When we do, we will see that His goodness is better than anything we'll find elsewhere. Sometimes, we try to enjoy God at a distance. Maybe we read about Him or think about Him, but we don't tangibly engage with Him. We don't invite Him into the moments of our lives and ask Him to walk with us. Think about your upcoming week. What does it hold? What spaces and places could you ask God to enter into? Is there a stressful project at work? Ask God to give you peace. Is there a relationship that seems too difficult to fix? Ask God to give you love for that person. Invite God into the big and small areas of your life. Let Him be your refuge and hiding place in times of trouble.
Lord God, thank You that You are so good. I know if I invite You into my life, Your goodness will never disappoint. Thank You that You want to be enjoyed. You don't hold back, but You give generously to any who ask. Help me to ask often for tastes of Your goodness. Help me to enjoy You more than any earthly pleasure. Help me to rely on Your strength instead of my own. God, You are so good. Amen.
