NIV Once-A-Day Bible for LeadersSýnishorn
Matthew 6:24
[Leaders] can easily get distracted by less important things. We can talk pretty impressively about loving God and other people. But all too often we’re swept away by the powerful under-current of money, and the possessions, power, and prestige it offers. Knowing how powerful the lure of money is, Jesus spoke about money more frequently than any other subject except the kingdom of God—and he addressed the subject with boldness. Remember, Jesus said we “cannot serve both God and money” (Matthew 6:24). One or the other will become our master. Decisions will be driven either by a desire to acquire wealth, or by a desire to please God. We can’t have it both ways.
