7 Prayers to Start the New YearSýnishorn
2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
Lord, we thank you for your word. We thank you for giving us a way to learn your teachings and connect with you in such an intimate way. Your word is constant, and your promises never change. We pray to create time and space in our lives to read your word. We pray for the desire and longing to connect with you this way. As we read your words, we pray that you prepare us for what is to come and equip us with the tools necessary to complete the journey you have given us. We pray for the Bible to one day be in every language, and we thank you for the blessing it is to have your words at the tip of our fingers whenever we need it. We pray to be so immersed in your word that the people around us recognize a change in our hearts simply because of the time we have spent with you amen.
If you ever feel distant from God, reading his word is a great way to reconnect. Even if you do not feel it, the Holy Spirit is doing a work in your life through reading scripture. You can be sure that God is meeting with you when you open your heart to him.
