DAY 6 OF 15

What image comes to mind when you think about courage? Maybe it’s a superhero in a movie, a real-life story of someone stepping up to help someone else, or a simple act of someone stepping up to try something new or scary for them. No matter the image for you, the idea behind the word comes from the word “heart.” That means that when we find the courage to press on and do something challenging or scary in this life, that bravery comes from our hearts. When we persevere and push forward through difficult situations, we do so with Jesus’ words in mind. We do so with the courage Jesus gives us in our hearts. When He reminds us to “take heart,” He is saying, “Be brave, be encouraged. I’m the One who will help you get through anything life throws your way. I’m the One who will help you press on.”

Knowing Jesus is with us today will help us find the courage to take care of everything we’re facing both now and in the future. This week, make a list of all the things in your life that feel heavy or scary to you—the things you need courage to press on and face. Above that list, write this verse. Let the truth of this verse be the reminder that Jesus can provide you with all you need to persevere and move forward with courage.

About this Plan

Press On

When we face struggles, we’re told to persevere. It’s actually easier said than done. Pressing on and persevering under the weight of hard times in life is not so simple. We have to learn how to press on just the way God calls us to. In this devotional, we’ll look at what it really means to follow God’s call to press on in our lives and in our faith.
