The Gratitude Shift - Embracing Six Gifts You Already HaveSýnishorn
GIFT 3: THE GIFT OF THE I AM
God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”. Exodus 3:14.
We have the gift of the I Am.
The Lord's directions for setting up the Tabernacle and building the Ark of the Covenant in Exodus demonstrate His mind-blowing attention to detail. He is the Master Designer who instructed Moses on how to do things He could have done Himself with a wave of His hand, a thought, or a breath.
Architect, designer, construction manager, metal worker, engineer, jeweler, carpenter, interior designer, logistics planner, tailor, and color coordinator are only some aspects of who God showed Himself to be in the setting up of the Tabernacle.
God, as "I Am," fills many relationship roles in our lives in addition to the ones that come quickly to mind: Father, Husband, Protector, Provider, Lover of our souls, Companion, Savior, and so on. May our thinking expand to acknowledge Him as who we need Him to be in the circumstances of our lives.
He is the One who:
• carves out a path for us when there seems to be no way
• works miracles in our lives
• gives us more than we can ask or imagine
• sees us
• is a friend who sticks closer than a brother
The list of who God is to us is endless. As we look around in our lives and histories, we can add to the many roles God has played and who He has been to us. May this stir up our gratitude for the great I Am! He promises never to leave or forsake us, no matter what we go through. When we are on the mountaintop, in the valley, or going either up or down between the two, God is with us, acting on our behalf and being who we need Him to be.
Prayer:
Lord, I am so grateful that there is no box we can squeeze You into. You are the great I Am, and it is an unmerited honor to do life with You, knowing that no matter what I am going through, You are there with me, being who I need You to be even if I don’t recognize it. Thank You that You are God, and I am not. You are infinite and omnipotent. Blessed is Your Name, Lord, and I praise You. Amen.
