The Tower of Babel
After the flood, the Bible tells the following story:
“In all the world there was only one language, one way of speaking. As the men from the East left, they found a plain at Shinar and settled there.” They said to each other, “Let's make bricks and burn them well.” They used bricks instead of stones, and tar instead of mortar. Then they said, “Let's build a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens. This way our name will be famous and we will not be scattered across the face of the earth.” The Lord came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. And the Lord said, “They are one people and speak one language, and they began to build this. Soon nothing will be able to stop what they plan to do. Come, let us go down and confuse the language they speak, that they may understand one another no more.” So, the Lord scattered them from there throughout the land, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel, because there the Lord confounded the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them throughout the land."
God acted in Babel to fulfill his purposes and continues to act. In the next study, we will talk about Egypt.

About this Plan
When God gave the interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's dream, Daniel exclaimed, “Praise be to the name of God forever and ever; wisdom and power belong to Him. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings." In this plan, we will study kingdoms of the past and future revealed in the Bible.
