Real Hope: Jesus' Birth ForetoldSýnishorn
A Voice In The Wilderness
The voice of John the Baptist is foretold by Isaiah 700 years earlier. His voice calling out to the people of Israel that One is coming to reveal the glory of God. His language is one of preparing the way for a King – making the way smooth and accessible. God has spoken and Isaiah has proclaimed what will come through God’s plan that the glory of the Lord will be revealed; a King, born in a stable.
All the Gospels tie this prophecy to John the Baptist and tie these words to the coming Messiah – Jesus. John was not a man of class or privilege, but his message had impact; his voice calling in the wilderness; people were hearing and responding to it and his message.
This message remains true today. John is speaking of the mercy of God who has provided salvation through Jesus. There is no other way for salvation than through Jesus.
We need to hear the voice of John and hear what he says to us today. God’s glory, His saving power, our redemption is revealed, all through Jesus.
This Christmas, as you open presents and delight in the gifts given and received, remember that the gift foretold so many years ago is just as perfect for us as always.

About this Plan
How encouraging to look at the birth of Jesus and see that there was a certainty given to the generations before Him that he’d come. (The Gift of Certain Hope - Susie Holt).
