Jesus the Fulfillment

DAY 3 OF 5

King of David's Line

Israel, inspired by the Spirit, blessed Judah by saying:

“Judah, your brothers will praise you,

his hand shall be upon the neck of his enemies;

your father's sons will bow before you.

Judah is a young lion.

You've been coming up, my son,

after killing the prey.

Like a lion, he sits down;

and lies down like a lioness;

who has the courage to wake him up?

The scepter shall not depart from Judah,

nor the staff of command of his descendants,

until the one to whom it belongs comes,

and the nations will obey him.”

And Isaiah prophesied:

"Unto us, a child is born,

a son was given,

and the government will rest on His shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

He will extend his dominion,

and there will be endless peace upon the throne of David

and about your kingdom,

established and maintained

with justice and righteousness

from this time forth, forevermore.

The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will accomplish this."

Thus, when the Magi came from the East, they sought the newborn king of the Jews to worship Him.

In fact, the Gospels of Matthew and Luke relate the genealogies of Jesus, which indicate He was a descendant of King David, and so the prophecy was fulfilled.
