4 Keys to Making a Comeback

DAY 1 OF 3

THE BEST COMEBACK STORY

When I was getting ready to write this plan, I searched the internet for some great comeback stories, and there are many, both past and present -- from Abraham Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant to Kurt Warner and Robert Downey Jr.

But you know who has the best comeback story of all time? Jesus! I mean, think about it: His life, death and resurrection literally changed the course of human history. He was guilty of no crime, only did good while on earth, yet He was betrayed and crucified. There is no greater setback than to be cruelly and unjustly killed.

But what a comeback! Three days later He rose from the grave! He scored the ultimate victory over death and sin. And the best news of all is, He brought us along with him. Once you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior He lives in you (Galatians 2:20), He’ll never leave you (Hebrews 13:5b) and all things are possible when you believe Him (Mark 9:23). According to what the Bible, you can’t lose for winning!

So when it comes to emulating comeback stories, I want to emulate Jesus, how about you? How can we do that? Here’s key #1:

1) Make a Choice. At some point in life, everyone has suffered disappointment or lost a dream. When that happens, you have to make a choice. You can either choose to set up camp in the land of disappointment and regret, spending all your time thinking about your failure or the wrong that has been done to you…or you can choose to get up and dream another dream. We’ve probably all heard the analogy that when you fall off a horse, the thing you must do is get right back up on that horse and ride. If you don’t, you’ll be afraid to ride (and the horse will think he’s won!) God has not given you the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7), so don’t let it take root in your heart, but face your fear in the power of God’s might (Ephesians 6:10). Don’t let the devil think he’s won! Decide to get up. When you know your place in Christ, you have the supernatural strength and determination to do it.
