A Call to ActionSýnishorn
Wake Up
We’ve all been there: completely relaxed and in the middle of the perfect dream, when suddenly, the loud chime of our alarm clock wakes us up! One second, we’re in Fiji, and the next, we’re back in reality. The alarm goes off, and it’s time to care for our families, go to school, or head to work.
Well, whether you were woken from a perfect dream this morning, hit snooze too many times, or barely made it out of bed, there’s something you should know: when you woke up today, you woke up with an assignment from God. Yup, that’s right. As Christians, we all live on assignment and have a call from God to answer today and every day.
In this plan, we will discuss how we can respond to God’s call daily. The first call we’ll be looking at is the call to wake up! In Romans 13:11, the apostle Paul’s words sound like a spiritual alarm clock. He says, “Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
You might be thinking, “God’s not calling me. Callings are for missionaries and pastors! I’m just a student, a stay-at-home mom, a bank teller, etc.” Well, let me tell you, God hasn’t just invited vocational ministers to be a part of his awesome plan of salvation. He’s called you, too, and He wants to use you to impact people right where you are.
The enemy would love nothing more than for Christians to spiritually hit snooze and stay asleep while there is kingdom work to do, but today, God is calling all of us to “Wake up!”
So, how can we wake up and respond to God’s call to action? To start, we can thank God for his wake-up call and the invitation to participate in His awesome plan. Then, throughout the day, we can look for opportunities to share the love of God with the people He has placed around us. Once we’re awakened to God’s call, we’ll begin to see countless opportunities to share His love.
Thought of the Day: God is calling me to action today. There are opportunities around me to share His love, so I’m going to wake up and take every chance I have today to love, encourage, and serve others for His glory.
About this Plan
Many of us struggle to see how our ordinary lives fit into God’s cosmic plan of salvation, but the truth is God is calling each and every one of us. He wants us to be a part of what He’s doing in the world around us. This plan encourages us to respond to God’s call in our everyday lives!
