7 Days After Getting Saved

DAY 4 OF 7

THERE IS POWER IN PRAYER

Prayer is simply a way that we communicate and commune (or spend time) with God. By spending time talking to our Father, we can share what is on our hearts and become familiar with His voice. We are going to dive deeper into looking at three types of prayer practices, but there is no wrong or right way to pray!

First, conversational prayer is a form of prayer where individuals engage in an informal conversation with God. Conversational prayer is a more spontaneous and personal form of prayer where individuals speak to God in their own unique voice and style. This is an intimate form of communication with God, where we develop a deeper relationship with Him through open and honest dialogue. It encourages us to share our hearts with God and to listen for His voice in response. God cares and is listening to your prayers! There are no details too big or too small for God to hear. He wants to be intimately involved and invited into your day-to-day life.

Next, intercessory prayer is a form of prayer where individuals pray on behalf of others, seeking God's intervention and blessing for their needs, concerns, and challenges. This is us partnering with God's will for others. God is a loving and compassionate Father who listens to the prayers of His people and responds with mercy, grace, and blessing.

Last, is contemplative prayer. This is simply being quiet in an awareness of God's presence. This is getting away from the busyness and intentionally silencing the noise in your life to sit and listen for God’s still small voice. God will illuminate things for you when you slow down and sit with Him and quiet the noise. Jesus is our example, He withdrew often to spend time with God. No matter how you pray, remember there is power in prayer and God wants to communicate and commune with you!

Application/ Reflection Questions:

  • What is one way I communicate or commune with God?
  • What can I thank God for in my prayers?
  • Who in my life can I pray for today?

Prayer: God, I thank You for the gift of prayer. Remind me that this is quality time of not just communicating with You but being with You. I pray that You give me the desire to seek You and Your presence daily. Use my prayers to reveal Your kingdom and bring Your will here on earth. May my prayers be a catalyst for transformation, both in my own life and in the lives of those around me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
