Trusting God: A 3-Day Journey Through Ruth's Faith, Provision, and PurposeSýnishorn
Day 3: Trusting God's Bigger Plan
"So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. And he went in to her, and the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. The women said to Naomi: 'Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel!'"
Think back to a time when you were knee-deep in uncertainty, struggling to see the bigger picture of God's plan for your life. Maybe it was that job you didn't get, the relationship that didn't work out, or the curveball life threw at you when you least expected it.
Although Ruth didn’t experience exactly what you’re going through, she had her fair share of loss and hardship. Little did she know, God was orchestrating a bigger plan for her life – plans that extended far beyond her immediate needs.
In Ruth 4:13-14, Ruth and Boaz's union not only provides for their immediate needs but also sets in motion a chain of events that will lead to the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham: all nations being blessed through the eventual birth, death, and resurrection of Jesus!
Their son, Obed, becomes the grandfather of King David, establishing the line of the future Messiah, Jesus Christ. This passage reminds us that when we trust in God's plan, He can use our lives in ways we never imagined, fulfilling His divine purposes and taking us along for the adventure of a lifetime.
Reflection
- Consider a time when God's plan turned out to be more incredible than you initially understood or expected.
- Trust that God is working in your life, even when you don't understand the bigger picture, and seek His guidance in all circumstances.
- Pray for a heart that is open to God's will and purposes for your life, trusting that His plans are greater than your own. After all, who doesn't want to be part of an epic plot twist?
Let’s pray
Almighty God, I thank You for Your incredible plan that surpasses my understanding and expectations. Help me to trust in Your divine purposes, even when I can't see the bigger picture. Give me the strength and courage to follow Your guidance, knowing that You are working in my life for my good and Your glory.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
