Be Confident in GodSýnishorn
Boldness in sharing the Gospel
“And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness” (Acts 4:29)
As Christians, we are called to spread the good news that God offers us forgiveness and a restored relationship with Him. But it’s not always easy to do so.
When Jesus’ first disciples met opposition when preaching about their Lord, they prayed for boldness. In answer to their prayers, “they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly” (Acts 4:31).
When Paul made a mission trip to Corinth, the Jews “opposed and reviled him” (Acts 18:6). No wonder he was there “in weakness and in fear and much trembling” (1 Corinthians 2:3). And yet, he continued preaching and teaching. How was this possible? Because God assured him in a vision, “Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, for I am with you…” (Acts 18:9-10). This gave Paul the courage to carry on his mission “in the power of God”.
In both examples, the people involved were not confident in themselves. They needed God’s reassurance and the power of the Holy Spirit to share the Gospel.
Do you long to spread the good news about Jesus with others? Do you feel confident to do so? If not, what holds you back? Maybe you could echo the prayer of Jesus’ disciples, as cited above!
About this Plan
Confident and bold people can achieve much in life, or so we think. We're told, “Come on, you can do it!” The Bible tells us to be confident: not in ourselves, but in God! And that, truly is a far more solid foundation for a joyful life!
