Miracle in the Making: 5 Devotions for Expectant MomsSýnishorn
Whether you are expecting your fourth child, or you've just found out that you're pregnant with your very first baby, pregnancy is a time of testing. There is so much beauty in creating a little life inside your own body. It’s a privilege. But it’s also a time when life feels so out of control. And who doesn’t like to feel in control? We make our routines. We make our plans, and we follow all the rules in an effort to feel like we are in charge of our lives. But pregnancy is something that is really out of our hands. We can follow every piece of advice our doctor gives us, and sometimes bad things still happen. Sometimes we still find ourselves fraught with worry and anxiety (especially during the first trimester). What will happen to this little budding life? Will he or she make it to the second trimester? What will we do if something happens?
When these concerns, worries, and thoughts enter our heads, it’s best to turn to God’s Word. The truth is, we can hold on with tight fists and spend weeks fretting over things over which we have very little control, or we can let go and choose to trust the scheme of God’s plans.
Pregnancy is a true test of our trust in God. His plans may not always make sense to us, but He is trustworthy. Whatever comes our way, God is faithful. Faithful to walk by our side in good times and bad. Faithful to grant us peace and provide whatever we need each and every day.
God knows you, and He knows your baby intimately. You can put your own health and your baby’s life and growth in His hands. He is capable of holding all your worries and fears. Choose to trust Him today. He will never forsake those who seek Him.
Lord, though I am scared sometimes for myself and my child, I choose today to leave my fears with You and trust You. You are in control. You will not forsake me, no matter what may come my way. Amen.
