EMOTIONS THAT HINDER GOD
“And he answered, I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself” (Genesis 3:10).
Human beings are emotional since before sin, God created us with the ability to experience emotions that would serve as energy to perform any activity, but with positive emotions. Genesis 3:10 shows us that after sin, negative emotions arose, highlighting 3 in the biblical text mentioned: fear, shame, and guilt. Three main characteristics of the top 3 mental illnesses today: anxiety, depression, and stress. We live in a highly emotional and reactive world, but based on emotions that were distorted by sin, today, people pay thousands of dollars in search of happiness, misguided, unknown, and unfounded happiness.
Everyone, at some point in our lives, has felt emotionally disoriented. We do not find stability, we feel sad, ashamed, or with great fear, and we try in many ways to find the tranquility that our soul seeks, but the problem is that we look in places and practice wrong actions; the key to an emotionally full life is not in Netflix series, nor social media, nor in being fallowers ofInstagrammersor famous artists, much less in belonging to social groups that seek to pressure you to use prohibited substances and pierce or tattoo your body; all of these aforementioned actions hinder God's plan in our lives. As strange as it sounds, your existential emptiness and emotions will stabilize when the sacrifice of Jesus Christ impresses you to be, and you understand that everything the world offers is perishable.
The same book of Genesis 1:1-3 tells us in the original language (Hebrew) that in the beginning, the world was disordered and formlessness; when God came, everything made sense and was restored, the disorder was displaced, and what had no form or sense ended up being beautiful in a great way. You have tried many things in your life, and perhaps nothing has worked for you. Happiness is a word that you may not have lived; personally, I want to suggest at this time that you try something different, something that will not cost you anything. Just put Jesus first in your life every morning, spend a few minutes talking to God as a friend, Express your worries, your plans, and your fears, and you will see how things will begin to change. You will experience an emotionally healthier life and spiritual health that you will not want to let go of. Try it, and you won't regret it.
