THE EXPECTATION of an HEIR: Royal Rights & Responsibilities

DAY 3 OF 3

Peace and Power in Prayer

Let's start today with this truth: "Peace, power, and prayer go hand in hand." No prayer, no peace; no prayer, no power! We can move forward with this question now that we've gotten that out of the way. What is prayer? In seeking a simple explanation or definition of prayer, I found that prayer expresses our dependence on God through requests. Our posture of prayer reflects a state of humility. It is a place of knowing that we (in and of ourselves) are insufficient and Father God is all sufficient. Our belief system is the core of purposeful prayer, and it is so important that we believe God is who He says He is. And coupled with that, we must also believe we are who He says we are. Without a firm conviction of this truth, prayer has no purpose.

The Bible says, "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Reflecting on my childhood, I remember asking my dad for many things. I had unwavering faith and trust in his ability to provide. I asked ceaselessly with the expectation to receive, which is a part of our royal inheritance as heirs of God.

So, position yourself as a child making a request to their earthly father with a heart filled with peaceful joy, when praying to your Heavenly Father. Believe that He will withhold no good thing from you. Cast your care upon Him because He truly cares for you.
