Day Three

The devil has no chance against a Christian who recognizes their freedom in Christ. “Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7)." When you submit to God and resist the devil, all the devil can do is flee! This doesn’t mean that lies, taunts, and temptations from the devil still won’t pop up from time to time. However, when they do come, all you have to do is simply rebuke whatever the lie is in Jesus’ name and move forward in your freedom.

Just as God delivered me from strongholds that seemed unbreakable, I believe God has and will continue to do the same for you: “So if the Son sets you free, you really will be free (John 8:36).” In Christ you are free… wholly, completely, really free. Whomever the Son sets free is really free! Therefore, when the devil comes to tempt and taunt, resist him and remind him that you are really free. With faith and the authority you’ve been given in Jesus, simply say, “The Lord rebuke thee!” and watch him flee as the coward he is (see Jude 1:9)!

As we move forward in our freedom in Christ, let’s commit to violently confronting the devil’s taunts and temptations with our actions, and remind him of his rightful place under our feet (see Romans 16:20). In Jesus, you are really free, my brothers and sisters.
