Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 6

DAY 10 OF 22

In Acts 21, we read about the Apostle Paul’s journey to Jerusalem. Paul had been warned that Jews in Jerusalem were plotting to kill him, but he was determined to go. In verses 11-12, we read that the disciples were filled with sadness and begged him not to go.

Despite the warnings, Paul had faith that God was in control of his destiny and that He was leading him to Jerusalem for a purpose. Paul says to his disciples: “Why all this hysteria? Why do you insist on making a scene and making it even harder for me? You’re looking at this backward. The issue in Jerusalem is not what they do to me, whether arrest or murder, but what the Master Jesus does through my obedience. Can’t you see that?”

We can learn from Paul’s faith in times of difficulty and danger. When faced with seemingly impossible circumstances, we can trust that God is with us and will not let us go.

Paul had faith that God was leading him to Jerusalem, but he also had a love for his fellow disciples. He could see they were filled with sadness and fear, and he did not want them to worry. He was willing to sacrifice his own safety for the peace of mind of his friends.

We can learn from Paul’s example of faith and love. We can trust that God is in control of our lives, even when it feels like we are going through difficult times. But we can also remember to have a love for our brothers and sisters in Christ and show them that we care about their well-being. Let us seek to build each other up in our faith and rejoice in the stories of how God works through us.

Today, how are you allowing God to work through your life to further His Kingdom?

And with whom can you share your story of faith to encourage someone and build their faith?
