Faith for the FaithlessSýnishorn
One morning, I whispered a question to Jesus. “Does the work I do matter?” Suddenly, Hebrews 11:1 rose in my mind, and I was immediately reassured. Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. I sensed God had more in store for me, and my “need to know” simply disappeared.
Do you ever question if what you’re doing really matters? Do you then experience an onslaught of worrisome thoughts that start spiraling downward? In these times, it’s important to give yourself a personal pep talk, brimming with reminders of God’s faithfulness.
It’s easy and reassuring to feel the tangible effects of your faith when you hug a hurting child, serve a warm plate of food to the hungry, or actively share your faith in Bible study. In many ways you can see immediate evidence of God working in your work life and the fruits of your labor. But there’s a mystery to God’s grace we can miss as God works in our everyday routine.
On those mundane days, when I question God, I remember His words of prophecy given over my life and review them often. Prophetic encouragement gives life to what God has put inside your heart to do. And He uses prophecy to lead you to your destiny. Whether you‘ve experienced prophecy or not, you can be sure through faithful prayer, seeking, and listening to God, He will open doors of opportunity for you.
Exciting times are elating, but God develops us in the day-to-day routine. He confirms the callings He has uniquely for us. My pastor says to give God your best, and He will take care of the rest. He is the ONLY One who makes our faith work.
“Faith does not eliminate questions. But faith knows where to take them.” —Elisabeth Elliott
Gain God’s Truth: Faith is believing. Faith is assurance that we have a hope and a future. We are called to be faithful; Kingdom work is faith in action over feelings. When we follow, obey, believe, and pray, we will influence the lives of others. God encourages us to trust and believe. He makes everything work together for our good for those called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). His love is not a blind pathway; it is paved with faithfulness, resulting in beautiful fruitfulness. Remember: He is the author and finisher of your faith!
