Faith Saves

DAY 7 OF 7

Faith Is Simple

As we reflect Abraham and David’s faith, we are reminded of the simple truth that faith is what saves us. We are not saved by our intelligence or strength, but by our willingness to trust in God. That leap of faith takes us from where we are to where God wants us to be.

Abraham did not have the Bible like we do today, yet he trusted in God’s promises. He believed that God would provide, and followed God’s lead without hesitation. David, too, had a deep trust in God, even in the face of great challenges and trials.

Today, we too are called to live by faith. We must trust in God and go wherever He leads us. We cannot try to put God in our plans; instead, we must follow His plans. In times of lack, we must trust that what God withholds is for our ultimate good. We must also be willing to relinquish what God takes from us, knowing that all we have belongs to Him. And when life is hard, we must be willing to suffer what God inflicts, knowing that He uses all things for our good and His glory. In all things, we must be willing to be what God requires of us, no matter the cost.

The late Christian author and speaker Jerry Bridges once wrote, “I am willing to receive what you give. I am willing to lack what you withhold. I am willing to relinquish what you take. And I am willing to suffer what you inflict. I am willing to be what you require." Let us make this our prayer today as we trust God and walk by faith. May we have the courage to follow wherever He leads us, and may we rest in the knowledge that He is with us always.

As we end this series, I want to challenge you with some questions that require introspection and contemplation. What does living by faith mean to you? Are you willing to trust God’s plan for your life, even when it appears that it doesn’t make sense? Are you ready to follow wherever He leads you, no matter the cost?

Are you willing to receive what God gives, to lack what He withholds, to relinquish what He takes, to suffer what He inflicts, and to be what God requires? Are you willing to live by faith?

About this Plan

Faith Saves

Even the best must be saved by belief. Faith humbles. Faith receives salvation as a gift, not a wage. We need to place our faith in Christ, and then walk, in obedience, in His works. Ours is a simple faith. In this devotional plan, Pastor Matte shares truths from Paul’s letter to the Romans about how to live out our Christian faith.
