Hall of Faith

DAY 5 OF 7

What does it look like to live a lifetime of faith? Sometimes we consider faith to be something we must practice in moments of doubt, yet in actuality, faith needs to become a daily practice. Faith becomes second nature to those who understand its power. Consider King David, a man with a life marked by his faith in the Lord. From a young age, David’s faith began to grow, carrying into every stage of his life.

Many of us are familiar with the story of David and Goliath. It took faith for David to approach a fearful giant with the bold courage to say, “You come to me with a sword and with a spear and with a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel” (1 Sam. 17:45). David’s faith in God’s ability to defeat Goliath was so absolute and firm that he was willing to risk his own life. This was only the beginning of a lifetime spent of assurance and trust in the Lord.

What are some ways we can become people with lives centered on faith – people who will one day find themselves in the Hall of Faith? One way to strengthen our faith is to recall the moments that the Lord has been faithful to us. Challenge yourself to remember the moments where the Lord has shown up in your life, in both the expected and the unexpected. Sometimes we discount the Lord’s faithfulness because we fail to see His hand over certain situations. Moments as simple as our salvation were ordered by the Lord, and our faith in Him will grow as we show gratitude for His faithfulness. Scripture reminds us that without faith it is impossible to please God. How can we show faithfulness in response to His faithfulness?

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you have been so faithful. I pray for a deeper desire to grow in faithfulness and understanding. Thank you for your constant faithfulness in my life, and I pray that I never grow apathetic to the ways that you move. Remind me of the moments in my life where you showed up and held me close. Amen.

About this Plan

Hall of Faith

The Hall of Faith from Hebrews 11 is filled with men and women of faith who dedicated their lives to a purpose greater than what the eye can see. We find their stories of strength in the midst of storms and faith in moments of doubt throughout Scripture. Over the next seven days, we will encounter their stories and witness the powerful ways God moved through their faith.
