Daily Bible Reading – March 2023, "God’s Saving Word: Prayer"Sýnishorn
March 11
Introduction
Today’s psalm begins with the writer expressing complete trust in God, even when experiencing adversity. The writer warns against depending on violence and riches and affirms that salvation is dependent on God alone.
Scripture Reading
Psalm 62
Today’s Key Verse: Psalm 62:5
I depend on God alone; I put my hope in him.
Reflect
The psalm writer refers to God as defender (verses 2, 6), protector (verse 7), shelter (verse 7), and refuge (verse 8). What are your thoughts about these images for God? What do verses 3 and 4 tell you about the psalm writer’s situation? The writer urges us to tell God all our troubles (verse 8). What might you need to tell God today?
Pray
Lord God, you are my defender, protector, shelter, and refuge. I depend on you alone, O God, and place my hope and trust in you. When I am troubled and worried, I can turn to you, gracious God, trusting in your care and constant love. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 70: A prayer for help.
