Fight for It: A 21-Day DevotionalSýnishorn
Today’s Devotional:
Have you ever started something and when you didn’t see quick results, you just decided it wasn’t worth it and quit? Maybe you have gone to the ,gym and after three weeks you still can’t fit into those pants. Or maybe you have tried learning another language, and after being laughed at multiple times, you decide that it just isn’t worth it.
Fasting can feel a lot like that sometimes. You have been praying and fasting for something for almost three weeks now, and maybe it hasn’t happened yet as you expected it to. Like the gym and language learning, do you just quit? Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Just because we don’t see the results today doesn’t mean that it isn’t in progress, or that it won’t happen. That is what faith is all about: believing in what hasn't happened yet. Don’t give up!
This time you have sowed into praying and fasting and may not have reaped what you thought, but there is growth. In the case of the gym, your pants may not yet fit, but you aren’t as winded as when you first started. You may not pronounce all of the words right in another language, but have you developed friendships while practicing the language? Take this time to ask God to reveal to you some areas where you have been growing but haven’t noticed yet, as you have been focused on one area. Maybe you have spent more time with God than ever before, or you were able to spend more time building relationships with your family or friends because you were fasting something that had previously been a distraction. That is the beautiful thing about faith, it allows us to hope for tomorrow, but we sure can give praise for what He is doing today!

Questions:
- What are some things that you can give God praise for that He has grown you in during these past three weeks?
- What areas have you been praying and fasting for that you will continue to have faith in?
A Prayer to ‘Look Out’: Jesus, thank you for always working behind the scenes. Thank you that I can trust you to continue to grow my faith. I pray that you will finish the work you started in me. I pray for those in my community who don’t know you, let them know the truth so the truth can set them free. In Jesus’ name, amen.
