Real Hope: Aligning Our Heart With God's

DAY 1 OF 5

A Heart of Gratitude

A few years ago, an exercise in gratitude was introduced to our team at work. We would go around the room and each share one thing we were grateful to God for during that year. By the time we’d all shared, there were tears, joy and a sense of awe of all that God had done that year. It was an exercise that impacted us all so much that it became an end-of-year tradition in the office.

It’s also an exercise that my family and I practice at the end of the year as we prepare for the new year. A new year always brings with it a sense of excitement and new beginnings. But before we wrap up this year, it’s important to remember all that God has done. His presence in our lives. The breakthroughs. His love. The answered prayers. When we intentionally stop and reflect, we can’t help but feel thankful for what He has done. Maybe God moved some mountains for you this past year. Maybe He answered a long-awaited prayer. Or maybe He simply carried you through your days. God’s goodness and provision looks different for everyone, but one thing we all receive from God is His love. His kindness and goodness. His presence. His Son.

As we start a new year, let’s remember all that He has done for us and enter the new year with a heart that is postured towards Him and a spirit that is thankful for who He is. A heart that is grateful for His love and presence. For His peace. And most importantly, for His Son, Jesus. And let’s declare His goodness and believe for Him to do more great things in the year to come.

About this Plan

Real Hope: Aligning Our Heart With God's

The end of a year brings time to reflect upon all that was and all that God has done, and to start to prepare and hope for all that is to come in the new year. It’s also a time for us to think about where our heart is when it comes to God and His will and purpose for our life; to perform a heart check – to put things in place and align our heart to Him as we step into a new year.
