Bridging the Gap

DAY 2 OF 7

Who is My Real Boss?

Christ is our true boss and not our earthly boss. That is why we need to bridge the gap and change our work into worship of Christ. There’s no such thing as a Christian who is not in full-time Christian service. Because when we work or carry on our responsibilities, assignments, and businesses, we are serving Christ. We work hard at our tasks since they are sacred responsibilities, ultimately leading to improved efficiency and greater customer satisfaction. Be it work, business, or profession, we do it heartily unto the Lord and not unto men.

When I began my practice as a lawyer, I decided I would not indulge in filing dodgy affidavits in courts or shady dealings. Till now, before every hearing, I work hard and do not adjourn cases just to delay them. I work on cases as if they were for God, irrespective of the clients’ paying capacity. I do not provide clients with embellished reports during a sale, and I would advise them with sincerity when they purchase. It is a struggle. But, it is all for Christ.

Believe that your profession and business is to honour Christ. Take decisions that are right and not only for profit. Serve customers in the best way that you can. Deal with complaints in humility. Sincerely make project reports and financial sheets without embellishments. Be a sincere competitor in your business without resorting to unethical business practices. Give the clients and customers the best that you can give. Always speak the truth. Serve gladly. Ultimately, we need to honour God through our businesses and not just to earn a profit or a reputation.

When we work or do business, with God at the centre and as our boss, we will do our work and business ethically and honestly. We will worship God in our work and business. We will take decisions rightly, firmly and in truth, knowing fully well that it is God that we serve. Our clients will recognise and appreciate our integrity at all times and will recognise our products and services as genuine.

Lord, grant me the grace to serve with sincerity and truth to honour You. Amen

About this Plan

Bridging the Gap

For a Christian, everything is sacred. We need to glorify God in everything we do − be it work, family, business or profession. But we have created a gap between work and worship, secular and sacred. Linus, in this practical study, says that the real proof of our worship lies, not in our words, but in our lives lived outside the Church. We cannot worship God on Sunday and dishonour Him on Monday. We have to decide to stop living a double life. Let us bridge the gap!
