Awake in the Dawn

DAY 1 OF 7

IT’S ALL FOR HIM!

WORD

Oh, how great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand his decisions and his ways! For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back? For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen. Romans 11:33–36

THOUGHT

We are limited and lack the ability to accomplish anything of lasting kingdom value on our own. This truth, instead of spurring disappointment, should actually encourage a spirit of gratefulness and peace in us through knowing God’s wonderful adventure is sourced by his unlimited riches and wisdom—and not by our own might.

Today’s verses remind us the Lord is above us in all ways—even his way of thinking cannot be understood. He is mighty, glorious, wise, and powerful beyond all measure. Not only is this the glorious, wonderful God we are honored to worship, but we are also honored to be called his children.

Everything which has existed presently exists and will exist because of the Lord and for the Lord. It’s all for him—even our own lives!

PRAYER

Lord God, you are my hope and my salvation. I rest in you this morning as I dwell on the words of this passage. I have nothing and can do nothing without you that is anything of true worth. You have shown me mercy and the way to life, and I submit myself to your will and desire to be used for your glory. Amen.

Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
