Ask. Seek. Knock. Sýnishorn
Draw Nigh.
“Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” James 4:8 KJV
Ask, seek, knock and draw nigh to Christ. Draw close to Him. Draw close to Him in the middle of the night. Draw close to Him in the middle of the day. Draw close to Him in the middle of turmoil. Draw close to Him when you need Him the most. Draw close to Him in every season of your life. Draw close to Him and He will draw close to you.
Cleanse your hands. Purify your heart and surrender to His Way. The Amplified Version puts it this way, “Come close to God and He will come close to you. [Recognize that you are] sinners, get your soiled hands clean; [realize that you have been disloyal] wavering individuals with divided interests, and purify your hearts [of your spiritual adultery].” Surrender your heart to Christ.
When you draw close to Christ, you’re intentionally submitting your will to His Will. When you draw close to Christ, you’re surrendering your way to His Way. When you draw close to Christ, you’re bowing your heart to Him. Seek His Way. Surrender to His Will.
Draw nigh unto Christ and He will draw close to you. Build your life around His Word. Let His Word frame your world. For Hebrews 11:3 AMPC declares, “By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.”
May your world be formed, framed, fashioned, and put in order by the Word of God. Ask according to His Word. Ask according to His Principles and Precepts. May the “Ask of your heart” align with the Heart of God.
For James 4:3 KJV declares, “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.” You ask and receive not, because “ye ask amiss.” In other words, you ask “amiss” because your heart is misaligned with the Way, Word, and Will of God.
The Amplified Version expounds upon James 4:3 in the following manner, “[Or] you do ask [God for them] and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures.” Shift your intention. Shift your focus. Place your heart in the Hands of God.
