Year of the Bible: Part Ten of TwelveSýnishorn
Sometimes, We Miss the Point!
The whole message of the Bible is that God wants to reconcile all humans to himself, and he provided the way into his family through His son, Jesus Christ.
The Galatians missed the point of all this, which is why Paul was so upset. The sacrificial system and prophecies from the Old Testament period pointed to Jesus, the author and perfecter of their faith. Jesus opened a new and living way for everyone to enter into a relationship with God, so Paul asked the Galatians why they thought adding more work to the process would be okay.
Question: Are you aware of how complete the work of Jesus is in your life? Like the Galatians, do you try to add to Jesus' work and, in so doing, attempt to earn something more from Jesus?
Prayer: Jesus, I trust You! Teach me to remain in You, bear much fruit, and glorify You with it. Help me recognize Your work's value and completeness in my life and live fully in the truth of Your work. In Jesus' name, Amen!
