Delilah
The story of Samson and Delilah is one of love, greed, and power. As we look at this story, we will repeatedly observe Delilah push Samson for the secret to his strength, knowing full well the information will ruin him. Sadly, her desire for reward and power over him eventually leads to her demise, too.
How could this woman be so divisive and manipulating? Before we answer, let’s pose this question to ourselves. Often, we display these divisive, manipulative behavior in our own lives. We set our minds on something we want to obtain, and we keep pushing toward it, even when some roadblocks and signs turn us away. God places things in our paths to slow us down and give us another opportunity to make the right decision. Do we stop and turn toward God or continue down our chosen path?
1. Are there areas in my life where I am doing things my way?
2. What is my heart's motivation to continue down this path?
Prayer: Lord, please reveal to me areas in my life where I am ignoring your warning signs in pursuit of my own goals. Please reset my heart and thoughts on You.
