I - Implement God's Teaching
Application is a lost art. We can be inspired when we sit in a row at school, training, or church, but it's useless if we don’t implement what we learned. We can read books, listen to the greatest podcasts, read our Bible, take copious notes on Ted Talks, or watch all the How-To videos on Tik Tok, but if we don’t apply that knowledge, it simply goes wasted. Are you implementing what God is teaching you to do in your life, or is it simply a catchy line from an Alanis Morrisette song, "the good advice that you just didn’t take”?
There are countless ways God speaks to His children. The first, and most important way for all of us, is through His word: the Bible. The more we read the Bible, the more we learn what truly is His voice when placed on our hearts in our everyday moments. The Bible is our blueprint for life. It teaches us how to be a light for others. We can apply this in how we listen, speak, and respond in our actions and choices. These subtle ways we implement His teachings are often how people first see not just us but Him.
God teaches us in our everyday moments too! If you’re a parent, you know the joy of hearing your child rave about their awesome day and how much it means to you when your child comes to you with a difficult topic. In the same manner, God loves to hear from us. Whether we are geeking out over something amazing that happened or we are angry with God — He meets us with love and grace. The Bible teaches us to make prayer a priority. The more you talk to God, the easier it becomes to hear His voice and see Him in the details. Pray while you’re working. Set habits at each timeout to do a quick prayer. How would implementing your conversations with God change your attitude during the game? At home? You’ll find that the deep things are in the small things.
It’s in the implementation that we have transformational and sustained growth. It’s where our light shines brightest, and others say, “I want what THEY have.” One of the things that “sets us apart” from the world is implementing what God teaches us.
How can you implement living as a child of light in your daily life?
How can you implement a life of grace when dealing with your relationships?
About this Plan
In today’s world, everybody’s in a rush. We rush our mornings to get to school or work. We run our days to get more done. We rush our evenings with full schedules. Unfortunately, another day passed, and we rushed right past God. As sports officials and families of officials, we run by God even faster with all our travel and responsibilities. Let’s slow down and spend some TIME with God.
