Daily Prayers for My HusbandSýnishorn
UNITY OF THE SPIRIT
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. EPHESIANS 4:2–3
It’s easy to start thinking your spouse isn’t necessarily playing on your team. Maybe he has a differing opinion or looks at the task from a completely different angle, and before you know it, it feels like you’ll never be on the same page. The best way to thwart his attempts is to maintain “the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” But what does this mean? It means humbling yourself enough to refocus your individual agendas on what God wants. It means being patient the way you want others to be patient with you. It means eliminating anything that robs you of peace and bathing your marriage with prayer—together. Every day.
Father, I come to You in all humility with both palms up and ask that You show me anything that is coming between my husband and me and preventing us from having unity of spirit. Help him to do the same so that we will be one in the Spirit the way Your Word describes. Give us both the courage to be honest about anything that weighs on our hearts and creates a weak link in our bond. Give me patience—the same patience I know I want him to have with me. Give me a gentle spirit so that he feels safe and at ease to share anything with me that concerns him. Surround us; protect us both with Your peace—a peace that cannot be broken—so we will have the fullness of Your joy today. IN JESUS’ NAME. AMEN.

About this Plan
Whether you’ve been married for five minutes or fifty years, one of the most loving things you can do to strengthen and protect your marriage is to pray. Your husband needs your prayer support to encourage and empower him to be the man God created him to be and equip him to take on life's daily challenges. As you pray, you'll be inspired to express your love and care for him in new and meaningful ways.
