Do You Have A Plan?
When we want to serve the Lord and do something great for Him and help build His Kingdom, how do we go from the “want to” to the “how to”? As believers in Christ, we often want to do things for the Lord, but we do not know how to do them.
David had a plan. He spent many years of his life preparing for the building of the Temple of the Lord. He gathered gold, silver, bronze, iron, and much more in all his battles during his time as king of Israel to be ready for when the time came to build the Temple. He had the “want to,” and he also had the “how to.”
As believers in Christ, our deepest, greatest, and most fulfilling “yes” is to be a part of building the Kingdom of God. How are we going to do this? Look at all that God has already provided.
He has provided for us the written Word of God, a heart for us to worship God, spiritual gifts, and many resources. He has provided us with a job, a house to live in, a car to drive, food to eat, and money to spend. He’s provided all these things.
Do you have a plan like David did? A plan is when a “want to” has a “how to.” David had a plan. In 2 Samuel 7, we see how he won many battles and gathered gold, silver, and costly jewels and stones. Then, in 2 Samuel 8, he is told that he will not be the one who will build the Temple. So, he saves up all that he has won until the proper time; that was his ‘how to.” When the Temple was finished, it was not called David’s Temple; it was called Solomon’s Temple. David had a plan and provided for something he would never get to see, but he did it with a glad heart because it was for the Lord.
We want to be believers who help provide for seats we will never sit in, for missionaries we will never meet, for churches that we help plant that we will never go to, and for the things that God does that will never include us. We want to be believers like that because of the heart of God in us.
Let us do all these things so that we can see the kingdom of God go further. It will be our legacy in what God is doing.
About this Plan
The blessing of giving to God’s purposes brings the greatest joy. Let’s allow the Lord to do heart work in us, so that we can take the next steps. Let’s give the Lord our best and see what He will do.
