Finding Joy: The Little ThingsSýnishorn
Introduction
Our world can be so busy. We have plenty of responsibilities, menial tasks to complete, and high expectations to fulfill. It often feels like there is never enough time to get everything done. We focus on checking off a to-do list and seemingly forgetting to enjoy the very people we exhaust ourselves to care for. Let’s get back to the basics and take time to step away from the list of never-ending chores and instead focus on the beautiful scenery and people around us. Literally, “stop and smell the roses.” Make it a priority to fully enjoy the gifts our Creator has given us – the gifts that remind us of His endless love.
Little Thing # 1: Bask in the Beauty of Creation
There is beauty all around! God’s creation (not man’s) brings peace, tranquility, and comfort. Have you ever walked into a forest? Or sat near a creek or natural, flowing stream of water? Have you ever walked through a tall field of grass – barefoot? If not, I guarantee that if you ever do, you will not regret it.
We are reminded throughout the bible that there is joy in God’s creation. There is beauty in the works of His hands. Reflect on today’s verses and ask God to help you understand and recognize the peace that comes from being surrounded by His beautiful creation. Finding oneness with God’s creation can soothe the soul and calm the stress that comes from the worries of today.
There’s something about feeling God’s presence in nature. Get away from vehicles, chores, and loud noises. Sit in a field of wildflowers. Take a deep breath and close your eyes. Listen to the sounds of nature, feel the wind blowing in your hair and the sun rays on your skin. The peace of experiencing God’s creation all around you is priceless. It may seem simple but reconnecting with nature is well worth every second and will promise to recharge your spiritual being. Allow the One who created your spirit to rejuvenate it.
