The Good LifeSýnishorn
While on Earth, Jesus gave us insight into what heaven is going to be like. One of the truths Jesus taught us comes after His instructions to not store up treasure on Earth. Then, Jesus said, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:20-21). Apparently, there will be treasure in heaven. We will all see the treasure; the treasure will be a part of our future. What will the treasure be? We don’t know! We do know it’s something God treasures, and we know He treasures it when we love Him and when we love others. So, maybe our acts of love to Him or others get transferred into physical treasure. Or maybe the good things we do in God’s name will somehow have meaning and weight in heaven. At this point, it’s all speculation. But what we do know is God wants us to be heavenly wealthy. Somehow, we’ll get heavenly wealthy when we pursue the ways of God’s Kingdom. It’s like Jesus said, “Why would you store up treasure here when it won’t last? You’re only going to be here for a few decades, but heaven is for eternity. Pursue kingdom riches. I want you to be rich, really rich—forever.” May we all live for God and His Kingdom until we live fully with Him in His Kingdom.
