The Good Life

DAY 17 OF 20

Jesus was telling several stories to the tax collectors, sinners, and religious leaders who gathered around Him. The religious leaders were upset that Jesus was so welcoming to people who had sinned. Jesus was trying to explain that every single person who comes to be a part of His family is precious to Him, and He will go to great lengths to rescue them. Jesus told a story about a shepherd who left 99 other sheep he had to go and find one of his sheep that had wandered off and gotten lost. Another of the stories Jesus told was about a younger son who squandered a third of his father’s wealth and was welcomed home by the father because of the father’s love for his son. Jesus also told a story about a woman who lost a coin and rejoiced after finding it. In telling that story, Jesus shared this glimpse into what happens in heaven: “I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10). Rejoicing in the presence of the angels. An angel party. When someone turns from sin and turns to God, the angels party. Can you even imagine what that looks like? One day, we won’t have to imagine. We’ll see what an angel party looks like for ourselves. Celebration is the business of heaven. So, we better get better at celebrating—we’re going to be doing it for all eternity with the angels.

About this Plan

The Good Life

We all want something bigger and deeper than us, and that’s often where things and stuff come in—we’re trying to fill that longing. Having possessions and stuff isn’t bad, but does it satisfy? Let's take a deeper look at the treasures God intends for us, the things that will satisfy the desires of our hearts. The things God wants to give us so we can truly live the good life.
