How to Study the BibleSýnishorn
Another helpful tip when going deeper into your Biblical studies is to try the S.O.A.P. Method.
Maybe some of us heard that term in reference to school assignments, but it is also relevant to studying the Bible. It is a simple method you can use as you get comfortable with reading.
Soap stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. This method is great to use as a devotional template.
S: Take time to read a portion of Scripture. It can be anywhere you feel led to read or are curious about.
O: Read the context, a chapter or two before and a chapter or two after. Try and understand the context of that particular passage.
A: Once you understand the context, ponder its relevance and what God may be trying to say to you through that passage.
P: Take time to pray. Perhaps its meaning is not clear. If that's the case, ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you and help you understand. And if He did speak clearly, be obedient.
Let's Pray:
Father God, thank You for Your guidance. Thank You because You are a God who speaks. I want to be led by You. Can you please use Your Word to guide me in this season of my life? I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen.
